Happiness. Russell's pick.

This is titled "Success and Happiness"

Happiness.

trying to be inspired by dirty dishes
and unmade beds
and the words
just won't come.
I wish my house could clean itself
or that i had a maid.
I wish I had a house
with more rooms to clean.
more work.
more pride.
the good kind.
not the go to hell kind.
And then I am interrupted with
laughter and screams
and "mama rock a baby, please"
and I am happy.
That have a healthy family
and a house to call my own,
unclean.

-Shannon Masayo

Happiness...
I know you.
I've seen your type for the past seven spring seasons.
The same happiness gleaming from naive teens
radiates like solar rays, so thrilled to graduate.
Most of you will die in the same city you were born in.
Many will make babies before they can legally drink.
You'll drop out of college within a year and max out credit cards.
You'll have everything and own nothing.
You'll get to my age and realize you were never a unique snowflake,
but a grain of sand.
-Tylor Sherman

  1. Perfect for my state of mind today. And most always. A better way of feeling than unaccomplished, like I feel most the time. It's not always easy to be happy for the messes. But I'm soooo thankful for them!

  2. :) me too! It is hard to see past them sometimes. i just think what if this was my last day with my kids. i would not want to spend it cleaning hahaha. i do it when they sleep. it is easier that way.

  4. I knew a long, long time ago that you would be a fount of inspiration. It worked for me then. It works for me now. I am filled with pride and Joy and happiness with the thought of who you have become in these short years. My heart and my eyes overflow with emotion... I love you, Shannon-Bonannon!

  5. ooooh ty. very true. sometimes that is enough though. happiness as a grain of sand, rather than unhappiness as a snowflake that will just melt. although i feel as if I am a snowflake, I am probably a grain of sand stuck in someone else's shoe, building a snowman.
